Those of you who know me, know that I LOVE my Kitchenaid mixer. I really do! I remember moving into our new home years ago. Buying the Kitchenaid stand mixer for the kitchen was one of the first things I did. That Thanksgiving was the first time I used it to make several dishes for one meal and I was truly surprised how much easier it made so many tasks while cooking. As the years have past, I have used it to make all kinds of foods and even some crafts.
I am always amazed by all the things the Kitchenaid mixer is capable of doing. I mean really, just by adding an attachment, it can do almost anything in the kitchen. It can blend, chop, shred, knead, whip, heat, cut, juice, dice, grind, mill, peel, slice, core, cream, freeze, mix, strain, puree, stuff, julienne, chill, and process. I’m sure I’m missing some of the things it can do because – like I said – its amazing!
My latest adventure with my Kitchenaid mixer
So my latest adventure is with the pasta attachment. Yes, I know it has been around for a while now – OK years – but I didn’t really have a burning desire to own one. Then last week, I was reading an article about how restaurants are adding colorful pastas to their menu and that was it – I want to make colorful pasta. So, of course, that means I also have to have the nifty pasta attachment for my Kitchenaid mixer. This is the pasta attachment I got.
And look what we created! Colorful Beet Pasta
Now I know adding vegetables and stuff into the pasta dough to color it is not new. After all, spinach pasta and black squid pasta have been around a long time. But when I saw the purple pasta – it just made me happy. Ok, that sounds kind of lame but it really did make me smile. And that means – time to make some pasta. And more importantly, now it is time to get the pasta attachment for my beloved mixer and get to work. So, that’s what we did.
