Cookie Exchange Party

Cookies to Go

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without cookies and loved ones. What could be better than combining the two with a cookie exchange? It's the perfect get together to start your holiday celebrations. Not only will a cookie exchange allow you to spend some time with each other before the craziness begins but loading up on cookies without all the work will help you prepare for other holiday gatherings with some pre-baked goods.

Invitations can be as extravagant as sending Christmas themed cookie jars with a note inside to “Come fill me up” and all the party details. Or it can be something as simple as cookie cutters with a recipe card tied on with all the details on it.

In addition to what, when and where, party details should include the number of cookies to bring. Keep in mind that the more you bring, the more you get to take home. But some people may be overwhelmed with the idea of having to bake dozens of cookie and so therefore may choose not to attend. An ideal number is probably around 3 dozen but you know your guests; pick a quantity you feel everyone will be comfortable with. Personally, I would rather take home fewer cookies and spend time with more friends.

Have everyone RSVP with their recipe choice – before they begin to bake. This will help ensure that everyone does not show up with chocolate chip cookies. Also, have everyone send you the recipe they will be using ahead of time. This will allow you to create recipe cards for the table for tasting time and it will also allow you to create a “cookbook” that everyone can take home. That way, all those family recipes you get can become part of everyone's celebrations for years to come.

Coco-Pecan Wedding Cookies and Lemon Melts are just a few of the new flavors that can be added to the cookbook; while Peppermint Candy Canes and Popcorn Balls provide an alternative for those who may not be Cookie Monsters.
